Location:
Mount Arrowsmith, as the crow flies, is about 16 miles East of
Port Alberni and 20 miles SW of Qualicum Beach. Access to the
parks is by a logging road that leaves Highway 4 about 7 km west
of the parking lot at Cathedral Grove. A Backroad Mapbook for
Vancouver Island is recommended as the best way to find the
right road to the park as there are no signs. See

Description:
Mount Arrowsmith Regional Park and the adjacent parcel of
Crown Land is a very popular place for hiking and for winter
sports like cross-country skiing, snow-mobiling, and
ice-climbing. A ski resort was once located on the adjacent
Mount Cokely, but has now gone out of business. There are a
variety of routes up the mountain from the logging road used to
access the park . It gets people up to about the 1000m level and
from there it is only another 800m or so to the summit. There is
another historic trail that starts at the east end of Cameron
Lake and ascends the lower slopes of the mountain to the site of
the old ski resort and eventually to the summit of Mount Cokely.
It is the oldest intact trail on Vancouver Island. Other than
the trails, there are no facilities in this park.
