| A hike to a remote beach on the west side of Vancouver Island Enjoy a 2 hour drive to Bamfield, a tiny, unique, west coast community on the shores of Barkley Sound on the outside of Vancouver Island. From the trail head, there is a one- hour hike to a secluded beach through ancient old growth cedar and hemlock forest.
The vegetation is so tangled you can imagine gnomes and fairies staring back at you! It's a bit of a long trip, but when you get to the beach you'll see it's worth it! There are fascinating tide-pools with abundant life in them. There will be time to do a little birding along the way and when we get to the beach. Wet ground warning! The trip in can be muddy! Hey, this is a rainforest. What did you expect? We'll supply a gourmet lunch and refreshments as well as rubber boots for those who want them. Be prepared for a full 9-hour day of fun!
