The town is located at the end of an inlet or fjord. The Alberni Valley

mountains, rushing rivers, and lakes, large and small. In the forests you can find Black-Tailed
Deer, Roosevelt Elk, Black Bear, Otters, Mink, and variety of birds unique to the west coast of
North America. All these creatures are regularly seen on our ecotours and birding tours.
Vancouver Island can be reached within Canada by ferries leaving from two terminals in the Vancouver area. These are both foot passenger or vehicle ferries.
